UPDATE:    Felicia had her surgery and did very well.  She recovered nicely and is now living in with her adoptive family, the Thurmers!  We are thrilled to see this little girl not only thriving but doing great and very happy!

Thank you to our amazing vet, Dr. Lindsay Speer at Summit Vet Clinic.  She and her staff are absolutely wonderful!

Thank you to all of you that supported Felicia when she was in need!  It was heartwarming to see everyone that came forward to help her.  Thank you!

Felicia....she's beautiful!  She's smart!  She's playful.  She is just 15 weeks old.  Felicia is a miniature Goldendoodle.

FELICIA IS ALSO IN DANGER MEDICALLY.
Felicia has a ectopic ureter.    This has caused severe urine scalding on her vulva.  That is painful!  She is incontinent and is bleeding.  She cannot go on like this.  Our veterinarian says she will either need the very expensive SURGERY OR she will need to be EUTHANIZED.
Felica is just a baby, a happy baby at that!  She is soft and oh so cuddly.  We just can't let this little girl die!  PLEASE help her!  The surgery will be done at Iowa State University.  The cost will be about $3000.00.
Please help Felcia!  She deserves to live!

UPDATE!  The tile has all been laid and they did a wonderful job.  The workers were friendly and didn't have one complaint about working amongst a pack of barking dogs.  They were great!  No complaints about coming out in the cold either!

As I look at this and read the first post, I am still in awe of a company that you give in this way.  There was absolutely nothing in it for them.  I told them we would tell people what they did and Matthew said we didn't have to even do that.  They truly did it from the heart with no expectation of anything.  How many people do you know that would do that?  Now, how many strangers would do that?  I look at that completed floor and I get all emotional.  That floor will forever represent the kind of love and compassion that we all need to have.

Matthew, you are an example of true CARING.  You set the bar very high.  I will never forget what you did for our dogs and for the rescue.  I can not say thank you enough. You inspire me to do more, be more and to be humble.  Thank you for everything!  Beautiful job!

We recently had a young man stop in at the rescue to bring us cookies and let us know that Iowa Home Consulting likes to be of assistance to charities and especially animal shelters and rescue.  I immediately asked if they did tile and might be willing to donate leftovers from jobs they had done.  He told me to call Matthew, the owner.  I did and anxiously waited for a call back.
In the meantime I posted on Facebook asking for anyone's leftover tiles.  Imagine my surprise when Matthew replied and said he would take care of our tile needs INCLUDING installation.  I was stunned.  I asked "as a donation?....free?"  I just couldn't believe it!  Matthew responded "Absolutely! Thank you for the work you do for the animals!"  Tears just streamed down my face!  I was overwhelmed by their kindness and their generosity!
We started tiling about a year ago and have half the rescue done.  We ran out of money and out of donors for the tile so we were not able to finish the job.  We so need it tiled.  It will be so beneficial to the dogs.  It will help with sanitation and make cleaning easier.  We have been searching for a way to get it done.
If you have any kind of home repairs, remodeling, painting, etc that you need done, please call this company!  Show them some love!  Just click on their logo above to go to their website!
Matthew is coming today to get a plan in place!  I am beyond excited!

Thank you to Iowa Home Consulting!
UPDATE:  Matthew came out to visit and we are set to go.  Tiling starts on Tuesday, January 8th!  We are so very excited!!!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!   We particularly need help walking dogs in late morning and in early evening.  We also need help in the office.  We need people to help post to the adoption sites, to do data entry and people that would like to process adoption applications and/or schedule adoption meetings.  Please email us at volunteers.scdr@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out.
