OUR MISSION

Our specialty is to take dogs that others will not take.  We are often their last hope.  We specialize in any dog that needs our help regardless of breed, size, age or sex.

Our mission is to continually strive for a focus on what is best for each dog.  Second Chance Dog Rescue will provide each dog with love and compassion, respect and understanding and a helping hand to get through whatever issues each dog may have.  We want to work with shelters, rescues, breeders and individuals to always give each animal what it deserves and in the end, a forever home that will cherish them as we do.

WHAT WE DO

We focus on rehoming dogs that have been at shelters for a long time, dogs who are scheduled for euthanization, hard to place dogs, stray dogs, dogs that breeders release and dogs who have lost their previous home for whatever reason.  Once the dogs arrive they are introduced to the pack one at a time and then taken to their room with fresh blankets, toys, food and water and piddle papers if needed.  The dogs are taken out at least 4 times a day.  Our veterinarians, All Creatures Small or Eastridge Animal Center, check out all our dogs as soon as possible after their arrival.  They are given an exam, dewormed, heartworm checked, parvo, distemper, parainfluenza, hepatitis and adenovirus type 2 vaccines, rabies shot and neutered or spayed. We also microchip the dogs.

Pets continue to receive vet care as long as they are here.  They are then listed as adoptable and put on Adopt-a-Pet, Petfinder, Rescue Me, our website and our facebook page.  While waiting for their new forever homes, we work with the dogs on housetraining, walking on a leash, not jumping on people, learning to sit and lay and try to help them learn the basics of family life.  Each dog spends time with our family and gets alot of individual attention and plenty of hugs and loves!
