Do any of those names sound flattering? Is that a dog you would want to help? Is it a dog you would want to adopt?
Those are the names given to dogs that come out of breeder facilities. The names are offensive and do not do anything to help the dogs. Second Chance Dog Rescue once referred to the dogs as puppy mill dogs. We have changed our thinking because we have come to know these dogs and we have come to love these dogs. When pushed we will say breeder released dogs or commercial breeder dogs. Otherwise we call them “dogs”.
Second Chance Dog Rescues devotes a large part of their facility and resources to getting dogs who are being retired from breeding facilities. We strongly believe that these dogs are more than “puppy mill dogs”. They are dogs. No matter what cares they have or have not received in their pasts, they are still dogs. They deserve a fairy tale ending to their lives. The dogs fairy tale? Very simple…. A home with someone who will love and care for them….someone they can trust and give love to. Not so much to ask, right?
There are those who think that by helping these dogs, Second Chance Dog Rescue is serving the breeder by cleaning up their “used up culls”. We do not focus on the breeders or any of the people involved. We focus on the dogs. And these dogs need our assistance with finding their fairy tale endings..
The number of breeder released dogs that need our assistance in finding a new home continues to increase as more breeders are willing to give these dogs to Second Chance Dog Rescue. We will continue to help knowing that…
