Why does my dog tilt his head when I talk to him?

Okay, it's adorably cute and it always makes us smile, but is there a reason my dog does this?  There is much speculation about what almost forces a dog to do this.  It could be...
  • To deal with pain from a higher pitched voice.
  • One ear has better hearing than the other.
  • They know the cute look will get them attention.

Recently there has been speculation that it is actually so the dog can see past his own muzzle to see more of our face.  In this way he can more accurately judge what our emotional state might be.

In truth, no one really knows for sure.  But we do know this....

It is incredibly precious and a great photo opportunity!
